New National Restrictions in place from 5th November

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on new national restrictions in England from 5th of November new guidance has been published.

The guidance includes sections on Going to school, college and university in section 7, Childcare and children’s activities in section 8, and Travel in section 11.

Key processes and practices in these areas that remain unchanged are:

The Government will continue to prioritise the wellbeing and long-term futures of young people and will not be closing schools, colleges or universities.

Parents will still be able to access some registered childcare and other childcare activities (including wraparound care) where reasonably necessary to enable parents to work, or for the purposes of respite care. Early years settings can remain open.

With regards to travel, you can:

  • travel to education and for caring responsibilities
  • hospital GP and other medical appointments or visits where you have had an accident or are concerned about your health
  • visiting venues that are open, including essential retail
  • exercise, if you need to make a short journey to do so

CDC will continue to update and release new guidance and news around the restrictions as soon as practical and we will also be keeping our Covid 19 resource page up to date with all the latest guidance, resources and help. It has a wealth of useful information and it can be accessed here:
